Reducing material waste is important to me, and as such I’m always happy to take on the challenge of working with reclaimed materials. These materials, despite being nominally cheaper than new lumber, typically require far more work to incorporate into a new piece. However, they can add interest to simple designs, and they’re always unique.

For this project, I incorporated maple flooring removed from the lanes of a bowling alley into a standing desk and matching coffee table. By keeping the years of wear underneath new coats of finish, the history of the wood is preserved as the highlights of these pieces.
