Pew Chairs

I turned some underused pews from St Luke's Memorial Episcopal Church in Tacoma into a set of eighteen chairs, which can now function as pews but are much easier to move and give the church the flexibility to adopt alternate seating arrangements as needed. All of the white oak that I used came from pews, with a little over one third being sliced directly into seats and backs and the remainder being processed into 1x2 boards that I sorted by length to maximize yield for the legs and stretchers. I started by creating 36 identical assemblies (pictured below), which I then paired and attached to the pew slices before adding stretchers, rounding edges, and leveling the chairs.
